Tourist Arrivals in Cyprus Rise by 7% in February

Tourism in Cyprus saw a notable increase in February 2025, with 133,760 arrivals, marking a 7% rise compared to 125,034 visitors in February 2024, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service on Monday.

Strong Start to 2025 for Tourism

The upward trend extends beyond February. During the first two months of 2025, Cyprus welcomed 245,860 tourists, reflecting a 15.4% growth compared to 212,995 arrivals in the same period last year. This 32,865-tourist increase highlights the country’s growing appeal as a travel destination.

Top Tourist Markets

The United Kingdom remained the largest source of visitors in February 2025, accounting for 24.8% (33,115 arrivals). Other key markets included:

  • Poland: 15.1% (20,165 arrivals)
  • Israel: 14.3% (19,194 arrivals)
  • Greece: 8.2% (10,978 arrivals)

Reasons for Travel

Tourist motivations shifted slightly in February 2025 compared to the same month in 2024. This year, travelers visited Cyprus for:

  • Holidays: 60.3% (down from 66.8% in February 2024)
  • Visiting friends and relatives: 20.4% (up from 17.8%)
  • Business trips: 19.1% (up from 14.2%)

Increase in Cypriot Residents Traveling Abroad

In addition to the tourism boom, more Cypriots traveled overseas in February 2025. A total of 124,232 residents returned from trips abroad, reflecting an 8.9% increase compared to 114,110 in February 2024.

The most popular destinations for Cypriot travelers included:

  • Greece: 34.4% (42,733 returnees)
  • United Kingdom: 9.5% (11,825 returnees)
  • Italy: 5.1% (6,289 returnees)
  • United Arab Emirates: 4% (5,028 returnees)
  • Germany: 3.4% (4,237 returnees)

This data suggests a strong travel momentum for both inbound and outbound tourism, reinforcing Cyprus as a key destination in the region.
