He also shared perspectives on shaping the new European action plan for social rights and stressed the importance of prioritizing the EU\u2019s strategy for poverty reduction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"775\" data-end=\"1177\">In his post-meeting statement, Panayiotou confirmed that the Council approved the negotiating text for the Traineeships Directive and held productive discussions on Europe\u2019s social agenda. \u201cI highlighted the steady progress of the Cypriot labour market, which reflects the EU\u2019s employment priorities\u2014reduced unemployment, improved job prospects, higher wages, and enhanced skills development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1179\" data-end=\"1644\">On the sidelines of the Council meeting, Panayiotou met with several European counterparts and senior EU officials as part of preparatory efforts ahead of Cyprus\u2019 upcoming presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2026.
