Limassol’s mayor, Yiannis Armeftis, has extended an open invitation to all, encouraging people to join the 63rd Wine Festival for an unforgettable experience. The event, set to run from September 28 to October 6, offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in Cypriot tradition while indulging in a wide array of local wines.
The festival, which first began in 1961, will showcase both large and small wineries, providing plenty of opportunities for wine tasting. Attendees will also enjoy an exciting lineup of music, dancing, theatrical performances, and other entertainment, making it a fun event for people of all ages. Traditional Cypriot food will be prepared continuously throughout the festival, adding to the overall experience.
A special highlight this year is the 80th anniversary of commandaria’s victory at the La Bataille des Vins. To commemorate this, 1,000 numbered bottles of commandaria will be produced, making this year’s celebration even more memorable.
In addition to the main event in Limassol, the Wine Festival will also host activities in the villages of Lofou and Monagri on September 29 and October 6, respectively.
This year’s festival is committed to being zero waste, aligning with Limassol’s efforts to achieve climate neutrality by 2030. In support of this initiative, the event aims to minimize its environmental impact.
To make the festival accessible, free bus services will be available from Nicosia, Larnaca, Paphos, and Ayia Napa.
