Cypriot Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades has reassured travelers that Cyprus airspace remains safe and there is no need to worry about flying to the island. Speaking to state broadcaster CyBC, Vafeades emphasized that the Republic of Cyprus is strictly adhering to safety updates issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The minister further explained that Cyprus has fully implemented all necessary procedures to reroute flights that would normally pass through Israeli and Lebanese airspace. These measures have been put in place in response to recent escalations in regional military operations.

As military conflicts in nearby countries intensified, flights bound for Israel and Lebanon were cancelled and redirected to Cyprus, where airports serve as a safe emergency landing destination. Vafeades highlighted that civil aviation authorities and airport services in Cyprus are closely monitoring the situation and remain on high alert to ensure passenger safety.

The minister clarified that no flights to Cyprus have been cancelled. The only disruptions reported have been related to hotel accommodation cancellations, not flights.
