The Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped by 0.9% compared to July 2024\u2014the sharpest year-on-year decrease recorded since late 2022.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"526\" data-end=\"687\">The Statistical Service of Cyprus reported that the CPI fell to 116.65 units in July, down from 117.28 units in June, reflecting a monthly decline of 0.63 units.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"1032\">Among the different economic categories, the Services sector showed the highest annual increase at 3.7%. However, steep declines were recorded in Electricity (down 12.2%) and Petroleum Products (down 8.1%) when compared year-on-year. On a monthly basis, Industrial Goods excluding petroleum products saw the largest decrease, dropping by 2.0%.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1034\" data-end=\"1126\">When comparing July 2025 to the same month in 2024, the most notable percentage shifts were:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1221\">\n<li data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1157\">\n<p data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1157\">Clothing and Footwear: -7.3%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1189\">\n<p data-start=\"1160\" data-end=\"1189\">Restaurants and Hotels: +5.0%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1190\" data-end=\"1221\">\n<p data-start=\"1192\" data-end=\"1221\">Recreation and Culture: +4.1%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1223\" data-end=\"1268\">Month-over-month, July\u2019s key movers included:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1269\" data-end=\"1319\">\n<li data-start=\"1269\" data-end=\"1300\">\n<p data-start=\"1271\" data-end=\"1300\">Clothing and Footwear: -12.4%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1301\" data-end=\"1319\">\n<p data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1319\">Transport: +2.1%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1408\">Over the seven-month period from January to July 2025, notable annual changes included:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1490\">\n<li data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1439\">\n<p data-start=\"1411\" data-end=\"1439\">Clothing and Footwear: -5.8%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1440\" data-end=\"1471\">\n<p data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1471\">Restaurants and Hotels: +4.8%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1472\" data-end=\"1490\">\n<p data-start=\"1474\" data-end=\"1490\">Education: +3.8%<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1492\" data-end=\"1536\">Looking at contributions to the overall CPI:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1791\">\n<li data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1667\">\n<p data-start=\"1539\" data-end=\"1667\">The strongest positive annual effects came from Restaurants and Hotels (+0.54 points) and Recreation and Culture (+0.27 points).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1668\" data-end=\"1791\">\n<p data-start=\"1670\" data-end=\"1791\">Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages had the most pronounced negative annual contribution, lowering the index by 0.72 points.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1793\" data-end=\"1820\">In terms of monthly impact:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"2108\">\n<li data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"1950\">\n<p data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"1950\">Clothing and Footwear exerted the greatest downward pressure on the index in July, reducing it by 0.92 points compared to June.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1951\" data-end=\"2108\">\n<p data-start=\"1953\" data-end=\"2108\">The largest positive monthly contribution came from Petroleum Products (+0.16 points), while Clothing Items had the biggest negative effect (-0.71 points).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2110\" data-end=\"2137\"><em data-start=\"2110\" data-end=\"2137\">Source: Stockwatch.com.cy<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cyprus continued to experience deflation in July 2025, marking the third month in a row with negative inflation.
