On Monday, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve), in partnership with Invest Cyprus, hosted a forum to promote Cyprus as a key entry point for Lebanese businesses seeking access to the European Union.
The event, titled “Discovering Cyprus: A Hub for Business Growth and Opportunities”, was aimed at enhancing economic ties between the two nations, highlighting Cyprus’ strategic position as a gateway not just to the EU but also to Mediterranean and Middle Eastern markets.
At the forum, Keve president Stavros Stavrou welcomed a business delegation from the French-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He emphasized the numerous benefits Cyprus offers as a business hub, including a favorable business climate, a competitive tax structure, and a strong legal framework, all of which make it an attractive destination for Lebanese and international companies seeking to expand into Europe and beyond.
Stavrou also mentioned the potential for trilateral cooperation between Cyprus, France, and Lebanon, suggesting that future discussions could explore collaborative opportunities between these countries.
A key presentation was delivered by Nicodemos Damianou, the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy. Titled “Cyprus: An Emerging and Rapidly Growing Regional Technology and Innovation Hub”, the presentation focused on Cyprus’ ongoing investments and reforms in the digital sector. Damianou explained how these initiatives are positioning Cyprus as a base for high-tech services and establishing it as a key player in data and connectivity across the region.
The forum also featured business-to-business meetings between Cypriot and Lebanese entrepreneurs. These interactions provided valuable networking opportunities and facilitated the creation of business partnerships. According to the organizers, these engagements are expected to lead to future collaborations, including trade exchanges, joint investments, and research projects aimed at fostering sustainable growth and innovation.
